Tuesday Art ATTACK- Peter Blake “Babe Rainbow”

British Pop Artist Peter Blake was born on June 25, 1932 in Dartford, England. Blake was educated in art at the Gravesend Technical College and School of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. While in school his work became very influenced by popular culture. Blake’s work also became well known for his use of collage. Blake almost instantly became popular after graduating. He was commissioned to do the Beatles album cover for “Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band” in 1967. In 1968 Blake was commissioned by Dodo Designs to create a poster to sell. A fan of wrestling he created “Babe Rainbow" a fictional wrester. Blake is still one of England’s most popular fine artists.
