Tuesday Art ATTACK- Andrew Loomis "This is America"

Andrew Loomis was born in Syracuse, New York in 1892 but was raised in Zanesville, Ohio. Loomis reciceived his art education at the Art Students League of New York and the Art Institute of Chicago. He became a illustration artist after graduction but was called to serve in World War I. When he got back from the war he worked for mulitple agencys until he founded his own studio. Surprisingly Loomis's great illistration work is not what he is known for. He is famous for his teaching and his books. Loomis's book Figure Drawing For All It's Worth is one of the quintsental books on figure drawing. Loomis's methods have helped shape todays art scene. Andrew Loomis passed away in 1959.
