Tuesday Art ATTACK- Fritz Eichenberg “St. Christopher”

This is a wood engraving by German-American artist Fritz Eichenberg that was completed in 1949. He was born in Germany in 1901. Eichenberg became a popular illustrator in his native country. While working for the satirical magazine UHU he created political illustrations mocking the Nazi party. He was a well known critic and had to flee the country in 1933. He is known for his striking wood cuts. Eichenberg passed away in 1990.
