Tuesday Art ATTACK- J.C. Leyendecker “Diving In”

Joseph Christian Leyendecker is a wonderful illustrator from the first half of the twentieth century. His work is captivating and has a strong style while maintaining great realism. Leyendecker worked with many magazines and did numerous Saturday Evening Post covers. His work portrayed a very heroic feel or conveyed a golden age mindset. This being the latter done in 1935 for a cover. Here is the final and a study for your viewing pleasure. Leyendecker is probably the second most famous American illustrator behind Norman Rockwell.
